Groupon Malaysia Plays It Cool for April Fools

The treatment entitled:

● Two Maharaja manservants or maids being delivered to any location to cool down customers with a handheld fan of their choice

● Customers were able choose from a Tropical Palm, Bamboo, Peacock Feather, Marabou Feather, Maharaja Pankhi, or 15th Century Maharaja fan

● The first 500 customers to book were to receive the ‘Ultimate Maharaja’ treatment including a Maharaja turban, complimentary deodorant application, (or reapplication), perfume or cologne top up, and a 15-minute revitalizing shoulder massage

● The special RM0 deal was valid from 00:01AM April 1 2016 until the end of the day

With the current heatwave taking a toll on Malaysians and no end in near sight, Groupon Malaysia took matters into their own hands by offering its customers a free Maharaja anti-heatwave treatment.

A part of their annual April Fools’ prank, the treatment included two ‘trained’ and ‘experienced’ Maharaja manservants or maids servicing the customer to detect their current body temperature and apply the right amount of airflow to their face, body, and feet, allowing them to reach a sweat-free and relaxed physical state within just 20 minutes.

Upon clicking the ‘Book Now’ button, customers were directed to a micro site that said “Happy April Fools’ Day! We gotcha!” and provided them with a promo code that entitled them to a 23% discount on their next Groupon purchase. An added 2% discount was given out to those using their mobile app.

“April Fools’ is an exciting day on the Groupon calendar and one we look forward to each year! It’s the perfect opportunity to engage with our customers and to put a smile on their faces,” said Groupon Malaysia’s Communications Lead.
